Description
Performance-based regulations have the potential to vastly improve system safety assuming graceful systems degradation will be built in. There is a significant shift in the way new or revised regulations are being applied transferring to the airlines the responsibility for monitoring safety performance and for acting on the findings.
Potential hazards
- The full safety implications of the introduction and interaction of these new, performance-based systems must be carefully considered. (Examples: Required Navigation, Communications, Surveillance Performance; RNP, RCP, RSP)
